DESCRIPTION:SESOC Emerging Structural Engineers – Auckland presentation\nThe relationship between the Architect and the Engineer\nThursday 14th November\, networking from 5:30pm\, Presentation at 6pm \nBECA Auditorium\, 21 Pitt Street\, Auckland \nRSVP HERE \n  \nThe SESOC Emerging Structural Engineers network is excited to advertise The Integrated Design Series\, a series of presentations from disciplines that structural engineers regularly collaborate with in the design process. The second of these presentations in Auckland will be by Bruce Curtain\, Head of Architecture at WSP on ‘the relationship between the architect and the engineer’. \nIn this presentation Bruce will present a case study – City Hall\, the iconic headquarters for the Mayor of London and Greater London Authority. Designed by Foster + Partners and Arup the combined team utilised leading edge design and construction techniques that integrate architecture\, structure and services to create a truly unique building. Bruce was an architect on this project and will explore his relationship with the structural engineers and wider project team to realise this geometrically complex hall into built form. \nThere will be an opportunity for networking from 5:30pm\, the presentation will start at 6:00pm\, followed by drinks and pizza. \nBruce Curtain: Head of Architecture & Principal Architect at WSP in NZ\n \nBBSc\, BArch (Hons)\, NZIA\, RIBA \nBruce has 27 years’ experience leading a range of complex architectural projects in both NZ and the UK across market sectors of education\, commercial – including London’s iconic ‘City Hall’ building\, and large scale airport redevelopments at Heathrow and Stansted. \nHis recent experience in major structural projects includes the 5 year programme for seismic strengthening of the 28 Storey Majestic Centre tower in Wellington\, and strengthening to a Category 1 heritage building at Wellington East Girls College. \nHe also acts as an advisor to government agencies such as MBIE representing professional and technical societies focusing on topics such as the future of the Building Code\, low-damage/ resilient design guidance development\, non-structural element performance\, passive fire protection and ACP cladding.  He is also the WSP representative on the NZIA major practice group\, and as a committee member of the NZ Society of Earthquake Engineers supporting cross discipline collaboration. \nPlease RSVP with the link below: \nhttps://forms.gle/JKhoAnZ5aeT7Rpdi9
