SUMMARY:SESOC Seminar Series 2021 - Christchurch
DESCRIPTION:SESOC would like to present its second seminar series for 2021. In the month of August\, the seminar series will be in four different cities.  The series is called ‘Engineering for buildability – Designing structures for efficiency in the New Zealand construction industry’. \nAugust 4 – Hamilton\nAugust 11 – Christchurch\nAugust 12 – Wellington\nAugust 26 – Auckland \nJoin our presenters Andrew Blackford\, Greg McFetridge\, Cameron Belliss\, Sigi Kerbers\, Kelvin Oh\, Tomonori Kaneko and Nick Bamford share their knowledge on designing structures for efficiency in the New Zealand construction industry. \nThis seminar aims to: \nProvide insight into how structures get built\, what’s required in terms of temporary works and logistics. \nUnderstand the importance of construction tolerance and how to provide for it in design. \nWorked examples of real-life projects and how the designs could be altered to better suit construction practices and ultimately the ease and cost of building. \nProvide an opportunity for designers to discuss their designs with peers working for main contractors and work through problems or issues they’ve encountered. \nDiscuss the consequences of designs that aren’t inherently stable until construction is complete. \nDiscuss examples of real Safety in Design that would make buildings safer to construct and thereby provide other tangible benefits. \nGain an understanding of “preliminaries and generals” and how they can have a significant influence on construction cost. \nRegistration fees: SESOC Member at $360.00 + GST; Non-member at $440.00 + GST \nREGISTER HERE
