This Draft Guidance on Simplified Lateral Mechanism Analysis (SLaMA) is published by SESOC and NZSEE.

This document provides guidance on the simplified lateral mechanism analysis (SLaMA) of existing buildings. The guidelines have been developed with the intention of clarifying
the conceptual basis of the approach through reference to a worked example, making reference to the relevant parts of the NZSEE detailed seismic assessment guidelines. It is
hoped that practitioners new to the subject of seismic assessment will find this document to be a useful introduction to the approach. Readers are invited to send any comments or
suggestions for improvements in future versions directly to the author.
