Following questions received on sourcing reliable large structural hollow sections, there have been calls on ACRS to expand its certification service to include products manufactured to the European cold-formed structural hollow section standard EN 10219 (which, for example, supports CHS’s up to 1219 mm diameter).
In response to these calls, ACRS has recently expanded its certification service to include EN 10219 products (the latest list of product standards that ACRS has included are provided here: ACRS Scheme Product Requirements)
ACRS only provides certification services if a particular product specified by the designer. Therefore, if users feel that EN 10219 products certified by ACRS are of value, this needs to be reflected within their respective specifications.
