Faults
Issue: a 1950’s building located smack bang over a fault having a recurrence period of between 3500 and 5000 years. It is not a major fault listed in AS 1170. NZBC B1 requires the building design to cater for a 500 year interval. So I can ignore the fact that a fault having a greater recurrence period is directly beneath? The MFE guidelines suggest that such an existing building is allowed.
I believe your interpretation is correct – the demand for assessment purposes is that defined by NZS 1170.5 (as at 1 July 2017), so any other factors need not be introduced.
