Ried Insert in existing Building
I am currently assessing the cast-in inserts in existing buildings, particularly those involving double reinforced walls connecting precast walls to the floor. I want to understand the latest industry practices and recommendations provided in the supplier’s manual for such connections.
Having read a research paper “HOGAN, L.S., HENRY, R.S., INGHAM, J.M ” that raised concerns about singly reinforced walls, I am specifically interested in connections related to double reinforced walls. Therefore, my questions are as follows:
-
Does the supplier’s manual provide capacity values for threaded inserts that are still applicable to double reinforced walls connecting precast walls to the floor in existing buildings?
- Any agreement on how to access these with types to avoid costly unnecessary retrofitting
- Any practical finding for post-earthquake situation to support that they are unreliable
Thanks
