I am currently assessing the cast-in inserts in existing buildings, particularly those involving double reinforced walls connecting precast walls to the floor. I want to understand the latest industry practices and recommendations provided in the supplier’s manual for such connections.

Having read a research paper “HOGAN, L.S., HENRY, R.S., INGHAM, J.M ” that raised concerns about singly reinforced walls, I am specifically interested in connections related to double reinforced walls. Therefore, my questions are as follows:

  1. Does the supplier’s manual provide capacity values for threaded inserts that are still applicable to double reinforced walls connecting precast walls to the floor in existing buildings?

  2. Any agreement on how to access these with types to avoid costly unnecessary retrofitting
  3. Any practical finding for post-earthquake situation to support that they are unreliable

Thanks
